Herons' Reach, Blackpool
A Rollercoaster Of A Round.
Despite being set in a stunning parkand and lake estate, the course has a 'links' feel to it, being no more than 10 minutes from the famous coast of Blackpool. Co-designed by BBC commentator Peter Allis, the fairways are well manicured, but expect to be punished if you land in the rough, and be wary of the winds from the sea that may cost you dearly.
If that's not enough of a challenge for you, there are no fewer than 12 water features to navigate including lakes which guard numerous greens. With a steady nerve and good approach shots, it's all there for the taking.
For th cautious
On the 17th hole, preserve your score down the stretch, by laying up to the water hazard to leave yourselfwith a shot iron into the green.
For the fearless
Go for gold on the 2nd hole. Drive straight for the green and get your round off to a flying start on this short par. If you need extra fire power, wait for the wind that blows down from the coast.
