De Vere Club Professional Golfers

Scott Pinkney chose to withdraw to pursue the PGA Tour Q-School in America. Matt played consistently well over the 6 rounds, ending up finishing in tied 9th position overall and in turn earning him his Tour Card for the 2013 season alongside our other De Vere Club Pro Matthew Baldwin. Matt & Matthew both Tee it up in their 1st event of the 2013 season this week in South Africa at the Nelson Mandela Championship.

One of the greatest success stories of 2012 has been the progress of De Vere Club's Touring Professional Matthew Baldwin.

After an exciting season in 2011 on the Challenge Tour, including a nail-biting play-off victory in Spain, Matthew eventually finished 10th in the Order of Merit earning him his first European Tour card for the 2012 International Schedule. Currently just outside the top 60 and a place in the season ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, the opportunity to turn a high-quality maiden season into a fairytale is still a possibility.

As the European Tour approaches its dramatic climax in Dubai, there remains only one week left in which players can improve on there Race to Dubai standings and jump up in to the top 60. This week is a rarity for the European Tour as two events are being held simultaneously in Hong Kong and South Africa. Matthew has opted for the Senengeti Golf & Wildlife Estates in South Africa and will likely need a seasons best finish to leapfrog and gain a place in next weeks field, 3rd place or better would appear to be what's required. Good luck Matthew.

Two of De Vere's other representatives on the European professional golf circuit, Scott Pinckney and Matt Nixon have had recent success when returning to the European Tour's qualifying school, both making through to the final stage held at the end of the month at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Spain. Unfortunately the greatest test still lies ahead for Matt and Scott, with 6 gruelling rounds under the most immense pressure. The reward; the top 25 (plus ties) at the end of the week will earn their playing privileges on the European Tour for the 2013 season. Once again, good luck to both.
