One of the most vibrant cities in the north east, Newcastle has a huge amount on offer for visitors. Staying in a Newcastle hotel is one of the best ways of experiencing this city, from its historic town centre, or its famed nightlife to a spot of retail therapy at one of its many excellent shopping areas - there is plenty to do in Newcastle. It is a city that really has to be experienced to get a proper feel of just how good it is. Newcastle is also the main business hub of the north east and as such is very popular as a destination for conferences or meeting rooms.  

With so much to do in Newcastle it is hard to try and pin down the highlights. For top landmarks in the city centre most visitors will head to Grainger Town, which showcases some amazing examples classical Georgian architecture, as well as the 11th century Castle Keep - after which Newcastle was named. The iconic Tyne bridge, as viewed from the revamped quayside is also a Newcastle must see. In fact the bridges that span the River Tyne are a tourist attraction in themselves, in particular the unique Gateshead Millennium Bridge - which is the world's only "tilting" bridge.

A few miles outside of Newcastle is the smaller but no less beautiful city of Durham, with its world famous cathedral, which is always popular with tourists. Newcastle can also act as a good base for those who are looking to explore the rugged wilderness of Northumberland National Park, which under an hour's drive from most hotels in Newcastle.
