De Vere Cranage Estate,  located in Cheshire, and part of De Vere’s collection of historic mansion house estates, has announced the launch of an exclusive beekeeping experience in collaboration with the Cheshire Beekeeper’s Association.

Allowing guests to become closer with nature and their surroundings, the Beekeeping experience is set to be fascinating, immersive and highly educational. Shedding light on the crucial part that honeybees play in the ecosystem, including the ways in which they work together to thrive and produce honey, the day will kick off with refreshments and a scenic tour through the hotel’s 20-acre grounds. Here, guests will be taken through the lifecycle of honeybees, the inner workings of the hive and the essential roles these incredible pollinators play in food production.

A full buffet lunch will be served in Tempus Restaurant, before guests gear up in full protective clothing and gloves and head to the onsite live apiary, where they will safely observe and interact with the bees under supervision.

Accompanied by an expert beekeeper, here, guests discover the workings of the hive, insight into equipment and a breakdown of the workers, drones and queen bee. A 360 hive to jar experience, guests will then have the chance to taste De Vere Cranage Estate’s very own honey, understanding how flowers, seasons and bee types influence the taste, texture and aroma of the product.

Whether a nature enthusiast or budding beekeeper, every guest will leave with unparalleled insight into the world of bees, as well as a goody-bag filled with themed treats and a jar of honey.

Available on set dates only, the exclusive experience will be running throughout spring and summer on 30th May, 27th June, 25th July and 29th August. Including the full experience, hire of the beekeeping suit, lunch and refreshments throughout the day, the experience costs £120 per person. For guests coming from further afield or looking to make a weekend out of it, they can stay overnight in one of De Vere Cranage Estate’s recently refurbished Deluxe rooms from just £119 bed and breakfast.

Placing sustainability at the heart of each property in their collection; De Vere is proud to have achieved certified Gold Standard Green Tourism awards across all of its hotels. From supporting local charities and initiatives in respective locations, to nurturing meaningful partnerships and launching environmentally friendly experiences for guests, the group has committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement.

Richard Morrell, General Manager at De Vere Cranage Estate, comments: “We’re pleased to now offer a new hands-on experience allowing our visitors to learn more about the role of bees in our eco-system. Our dedicated ‘Green Team’ have worked hard to ensure that we’re contributing to De Vere’s wider environmental goals and we’re proud to be able to give our guests a taste of that here at De Vere Cranage Estate.”
