UK filming locations with endless possibilities

At De Vere, we’re no stranger to the silver screen. Our properties have featured in Hollywood blockbusters, music videos, Netflix masterpieces, high-end TV dramas and everything in between. Our country house estates provide a unique collection of impressive UK film locations to explore. Away from the action, our hotels offer an ideal production base for cast and crew. With plenty of flexible space inside and out and a range of luxury accommodation, our locations offer comfort and convenience in equal measure.

Setting the scene

Our estates have so much to offer. From the Tudor-style manor of De Vere Tortworth Court and the turrets of Horsley Towers to the white columned mansion and rolling grounds of De Vere Beaumont Estate. The history of our hotels is there for all to see. The well-preserved architecture from a wide range of periods with original features on the facades and interiors need to be seen to be believed.

Locations from around our estates have appeared in productions such as Alice Through the Looking Glass (2015, Disney), series 2 of The Crown (2017, Netflix) and Call The Midwife (2018, BBC1) among a whole host of others. These productions chose us for our unique locations, but they also saw the rich possibilities of the blank canvas the hotels offer. Our UK locations for hire can accommodate set builds on a broad scale as well as adaptations of the features in and around the hotels. Our trust agreements will enable your teams to do what they do best without being tied into a contract with expensive hidden surprises. Rest assured that you have the freedom to film and roam around our estates, ensuring you have everything you need for a creative working environment.

We understand that productions come in all shapes and sizes, and that the most impressive stone archway can be as crucial to the narrative as a small cosy kitchen, so access to back of house and other areas, usually off limits to hotel guests, can be made available to you. That includes the technical aspects of the production where crew will need open access to power sources and any other needs of your technicians.

Jon and the team at De Vere Horsley Estate are always a pleasure to work with. They understand the requirements from a film crew and to achieve what a script requires from an Artistic, Cinematographic and practical perspective. They are flexible and helpful to all levels of Productions - if I could work with Horsley on every shoot, I would!

Callouts

Off-set set-up

While we have a portfolio of UK locations for hire to make even the pickiest directors happy, we also have spaces that make producing your feature run smoothly too. The hotels have dedicated event spaces ideal for your location base. Dressing rooms, green rooms, changing rooms, make-up areas, costume departments, canteens and Covid testing can easily be set up for the duration of the shoot. Our Grand Spaces offering also includes rooms for up to 700 people should you need a collective space for crew and extras or as storage for larger props. You’ll have access to the estate 24hrs a day so we can accommodate even the most testing working schedule.

Access to the action

Country house estates mean plenty of room on hardstanding ground, as well as plenty of additional grounds for all the technical vehicles, cars, vans, trucks, and cranes needed for filming. In cases where there may be any height or width restrictions, we can provide the fine detail to ensure the space in each film location is suitable for your requirements. With bigger events at the core of our business, we have plenty of parking should your unit base be off-site, so all crew and filming vehicles as well as prop delivery and catering vans will find space.

Our people are your people

Our people have years of experience working closely with production teams on their film locations and location hire. You’ll have a dedicated host during the set-up and shooting days to help you with anything you may need. They will be your contact when schedules change, last-minute ideas and new suggestions mean new requirements, or if you have any questions about any aspect of shooting at the hotel. We understand that time is money and so you’ll find your host is flexible, resourceful, responsive, decisive, and reliable.

Working with you

Our agreements reflect our experience with location hire. So, you’ll find favourable terms on wet weather and arrangements to accommodate scene or date changes, meaning you won’t be charged if filming can’t go ahead. Our day rate card is competitive with no hidden costs and terms for reshoots or additional filming will also be covered. We understand that shooting schedules move constantly, so we’ll always do our best to accommodate the twists and turns of production. We invite you to come to us directly rather than through the numerous location companies or location libraries to avoid additional production expense. Alternatively, you’ll also find us registered with many of the top film location finders and film location agencies in the UK, including: Location WorksSaltScout ProductionsUK Film Locations.

Back to base

When our hotels aren’t in front of the camera, we’re often front of mind as a relaxing production base for cast and crew. Our destinations provide an ideal stay, not only for the range of options across the south of England and proximity to major production studios, but also for our welcoming bars and restaurants across each hotel, where cast and crew can unwind. Although our TV and film locations are close to major transport links, they’re also offer privacy with winding drives and gates. So, you can rest assured that your cast and crew can work or relax discretely without interruption. Our historic red brick beauty, De Vere Latimer Estate, just 20 minutes from the Warner Bros studio, has been the top choice for the team behind BBC1’s Dancing On Ice for the last few years, as well as the stars of the show taking up our luxury suites.
