Q: We love a love story, so please tell us all about yours! How did you meet and what is your proposal story

A: Matt and I met when we were least expecting it. On 5th May 2012, I had been dragged to the local social club with my dad to watch the FA Cup Final. Matt was there and we got chatting. I had never met him before but instantly had a connection with him. 10 days later on 15th May, we became official when we went to a Jimmy Carr show. Jimmy Carr asked for all those who had come as a couple to raise their hands; Matt and I looked at each other and raised our hands.

On Christmas Day in 2019, Matt asked me to marry him. It was perfect.

Q: What were your top priorities when choosing your wedding venue?

A: We had both decided that we wanted somewhere with a beautiful backdrop, plenty of space for our family and friends, and grounds for the children to play. We also knew we wanted the comfort in knowing after a long and overwhelming day, we could head upstairs to our room, so accommodation was a must. Oh, and the date! We met on the 5th May, official on the 15th, so we had to marry on the 25th! May is the month of “us”.

Q: We’re delighted that you chose De Vere Wokefield Estate as your wedding venue, please tell us why you chose us.

A: Wokefield had everything we had hoped for and more!

The grounds are beautiful, the Mansion House felt like a fairy-tale and we could also tie in the fact that the men in the family are golfers as they have a golf course onsite.

Myself and my bridesmaids stayed the night before and could relax and get ready the morning of the wedding in a stunning suite overlooking the grounds. The Terrace Suite where we held our reception was perfect. It was spacious and had that “WOW” feel.

Q: What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

A: Every part of our wedding day was amazing from start to finish. Finally getting to say “I do” felt like a dream come true.

Five months prior to our wedding day, my dad suffered a stroke. The fact he overcame huge obstacles and was able to walk me down the aisle meant the world to me. We also really loved returning to Wokefield and having a red carpet laid out for us and to be greeted with a glass of champagne each. It was such a surprise and we felt like royalty!

Q: How did your coordinator assist in the planning for your wedding day?

A: I think it’s fair to say; what didn’t she do to assist! Louise was amazing and so thorough. She made everything run smoothly, (even the first meeting we had where I was super nervous). We were doing a DIY wedding, where I had made quite a lot of the decorations and I was dressing the Terrace Suite myself. Louise ensured that we were able to do this and offered suggestions and help throughout.

In all honesty, the amount of emails I sent Louise in the run-up to our wedding, I can say, that woman deserves a medal! Nothing was too much trouble and we feel extremely lucky to have had such an attentive and wonderful member of your team looking after us.

Q: What advice would you give to other couples considering De Vere Wokefield Estate?

A: The scenery is beautiful, the food was divine, the accommodation was stunning, but the biggest and most important thing… the staff. Do not doubt the capabilities and efforts the staff will go to, to ensure you have the day you dream of.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share about your wedding day with us?

A: Only that we wish we could do it all again! It was perfect. Thank you so much to all the staff at Wokefield Estate.
