You have the ring - now it's time to find the venue
If you’re in the exciting position of starting to think of a venue for your big day, we’ve got your back with some handy tips to help you make the most of your visits.
1 – Book an appointment
Scheduling a dedicated appointment ensures you get the best possible experience. The venue’s Wedding Coordinator will set aside time just for you, ensuring that key spaces are available to view and that they’re prepared with essential details like guest numbers and date availability.

2 – Do your research
The more prepared you are, the more you’ll gain from your visit. If the venue offers a variety of packages, review them beforehand to get an idea of which might suit you best. Also, confirm the venue meets your must-haves—there’s nothing worse than falling in love with a location only to realise it can’t accommodate your 200 guests when its maximum capacity is 100.
3 – Choose your entourage wisely
Consider carefully who you bring along. Ideally, it’s just you and your partner, allowing you to focus on what you want without too many outside opinions. If your partner can’t make it, a trusted parent or bridesmaid is a good alternative—but don’t forget to take plenty of photos and videos to share later.

4 – Come with questions
After doing your research, prepare a list of questions to ask. Think about your priorities—whether it’s having your dog by your side or ensuring the dancefloor is big enough for an epic party—and ask your Wedding Coordinator. No question is too small, and chances are, they’ve heard it before and will be well-prepared with the answer you want to hear.

5 – Be ready to save the date
Before visiting, discuss your ideal wedding date with your partner and loved ones. If you fall in love with a venue and they allow provisional bookings, you may want to reserve your date while finalising other visits. It’s also smart to consider a backup plan—if Saturdays are fully booked, what other days work for you? If your date is non-negotiable, email the venue in advance to check availability.
6 – Make it an experience
Why not turn your venue visit into a mini getaway? If it’s a hotel, consider staying overnight to experience the service and amenities first-hand. How about booking a dinner or afternoon tea to sample the food—a key part of your big day? Or a relaxing visit to the spa with your bridesmaids could be the perfect way to preview the venue while enjoying some well-deserved pampering.
