How to plan the ideal wedding budget breakdown
The dress, the venue, the flowers and even the rings. There's plenty to think about when planning a wedding. But one of the first things you should consider is your budget. A simple budget is easy to create, but can be much harder to stick to!
So whatever your budget for your wedding, here is our top guide from our wedding coordinator, Isabella, on how best to split it to make sure everything is covered when planning your big day:
The wedding ceremony: 2% - 3%
Compared to the reception, the ceremony itself shouldn't take up too much of your budget, with just a few things like the registrar fees needed to be covered.
The wedding reception: 48% - 50%
The wedding reception is the main celebration of your big day so this is where the majority of your budget should go. This includes everything from canapes, the wedding breakfast, drinks, the cake, furniture and tableware.
The attire: 8% - 10%
Another important part of your budget to ensure you are looking your very best for your special day. This includes the wedding dress and grooms suit, outfits for the bridesmaids, groomsmen and flower girls, plus any hair and makeup styling.
The flowers & decorations: 8% - 10%
Think flowers for the bride, bridesmaids and at the venue. But also any other decorations like balloons, fairy lights and signage.
The music & entertainment: 8% - 10%
Anything from the live band and the DJ to photo booths, table entertainment and that candy bar you just have to have.
The photographer & videographer: 10% - 12%
Make sure your big day is captured perfectly and set aside a good amount of your budget for a professional photographer or videographer or both!
The rings: 2% - 3%
Wedding rings are a very important but sometimes overlooked part of a wedding budget - make sure to factor it in as after all, you'll be wearing it for the rest of your life!
The ride: 2% - 3%
Whether you want to arrive in an elegant vintage car or a statement sports car, make sure your transportation to and from your wedding is covered in your budget. Don't forget you'll also need a way of getting your guests from the ceremony to the reception if these are in different venues.
The gifts: 8%
Remember it's tradition to give bridesmaids, parents, groomsmen and flower girls gifts to say thank you for their support during your big day, as well as wedding favours for your guests.
The emergency reserve: 5%
No matter how hard we try, sometimes mishaps can happen. That's why it's better to have a little extra budget put aside so that those lost invitations or broken shoe can be easily be sorted.
