Q: We love a love story, so please tell us all about yours! How did you meet and what is your proposal story?

A: Vish saw a photo of me on our mutual friend’s Instagram story and wanted to speak to me and our love story began. I didn’t give my phone number until 3 months in and 2 years later he proposed on a trip to Malta. This was an absolute surprise to me! He had the ring box wrapped in paper that said “Engagement ring…don’t react” for the airport security, and insisted on watching the sunset right after we landed. In my most ordinary clothes, by the sea watching the sunset, Vish proposed with a ring that was absolutely ME! 

Q: What were your top priorities when choosing your wedding venue?

A: There were a few things we considered when choosing our wedding venue: -

• Large outdoor space
• Onsite accommodation
• The option to switch between outdoor and indoor wedding set up
• Air conditioning
• The cost of food and drink
• On-site catering options

Q: We’re delighted that you chose De Vere Wokefield Estate as your wedding venue, please tell us why you chose us.

A: For our first time visiting the venue we met with Tasha for our show-round and we were in love with the venue! It was a bright, sunny day which was also a plus. Tasha explained everything clearly and the Weaver package worked well for our requirements and price range.

The toastmaster was included for this package which was a huge plus, because Simon was a great help on the day making sure all events were organised and as per the schedule.

Of course, the staff! There are the friendliest staff at Wokefield and we have heard this from a few of our guests too!

Q: What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

A: The whole day was just perfect and as we envisioned!

We have three favourite moments:

• The dancefloor – The arrangements by Wokefield, our DJ Ravi (RV Sounds) and our dhol drummers (The Dhol Show) was insane fun with 80 people on the dancefloor for a full 30 minutes! Our guests still reminisce this moment.
• The confetti moment – Our toastmaster Simon aligned everyone beautifully with confetti and we got the most perfect photos of our walk down the aisle as Mr & Mrs Kumar!
• A private drink – Having a private drink just the two of us in the Whisky Lounge while all the guests gathered for the drink’s reception was a special moment for us as we got to cheers for the first time as a married couple.

Q: How did your coordinator assist in the planning for your wedding day?

A: They were very flexible with reserving the guest bedrooms as we had a few changes along the way. It was also lovely that our catering coordinator could accommodate chicken into our wedding menu even though our chosen option was steak for all guests, however I only eat chicken. They also gave us ideas about the order of speeches, food timings, etc.

Q: What advice would you give to other couples considering Wokefield Estate?

A: Definitely make use of the gazebo – it’s a great photo opportunity! Choose venue catering as it was very tasty. Opt for a toastmaster as it was a great and important addition on the wedding day. The venue is also great for a pre-wedding photoshoot too, we had ours and they are the most beautiful photos. 

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share about your wedding day with us?

A: It was lovely that all the staff were equally enjoying our dancefloor and playlist. We revisited the venue after 7 months to reminisce our beautiful wedding day and the Wokefield staff gave us the warmest welcome. They had kept our cricket-themed seating chart and mentioned to us how unique it was and how much our wedding was loved by all at Wokefield!
